The area has a mild and maritime climate with the predominant wind direction coming from the seaward side to the west. Houses facing South and East are often more sheltered by the hills. Locally it is often remarked that the area seems to have a ‘micro climate’ that is warmer and generally less cloudy than the Lake District to the north.
